The Guntersville Train Depot Museum kicked off its Summer Lecture Series on June 27, 2026, with two engaging and informative presentations by Adam McBride and Deborah Belcher.
Deborah Belcher shared the history of the 167th Regiment, based in Guntersville, highlighting its service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. She also explained the vital role that trains—particularly those departing from Guntersville—played in transporting troops and military supplies throughout the war effort.
Adam McBride followed with an overview of the Pacific War, focusing on the difficult decisions faced by military leaders. He emphasized that wartime choices are rarely between good and evil, but are often a matter of choosing the least harmful option among difficult alternatives, offering a thoughtful perspective on the realities of war.
